Privacy Policy
LanguageLearn Lingo · last updated 15 August 2026
The short version. There is no account, no login, and no
advertising. Your progress lives on your device. What leaves it are the
sentences the app needs read aloud and, if you use the photo feature, the
photo you chose. We do not sell data and there is nothing to sell — we never
learn who you are.
What we do not collect
- No name, email address, phone number or account of any kind.
- No advertising identifier, and no advertising or analytics SDKs in the app.
- No contacts, no location, no device identifiers sent to us.
- No cross-app or cross-site tracking.
What stays on your device
Everything about your learning: which lessons you finished, your streak,
coins, per-word scores, words you added yourself, and your settings. It is
stored only in the app's own storage. Deleting the app deletes it. You can
also erase it at any time from Profile → Delete all data.
What is sent to our server
The app talks to one server we run, at speedui.ai, for two
things.
-
Speech audio. To read a word or sentence aloud, the app
sends that text and its language to our server, which has it synthesized by
Google's Gemini text-to-speech and returns the audio. The audio is cached so
the same sentence is only ever generated once, for everybody.
-
Coaching features. A short encouragement after a lesson, an
explanation of a wrong answer, an extra practice round, and naming the
object in a photo. For these the app sends only structured fields — the
language codes, the lesson title, the exercise question, the answer you gave,
the words you are weakest on — and our server builds the request to Google
Gemini. The app never sends free-form text of its own.
-
Photos. Only if you use the photo-to-word feature. The
chosen photo is downscaled and sent to our server, forwarded to Google
Gemini to identify the object, and then discarded. We do not store it.
None of this is tied to an identity, because the app has none to send. Your
progress, streak and word scores are never uploaded.
What our server records
-
The phrases requested and their language, in the server log, so we can see
which content is being generated and spot failures. These lines are not
linked to a person or device.
-
Your IP address, held in memory only, to rate-limit abuse. It is not written
to disk by the app server and is discarded within the hour.
-
Generated audio, stored on disk keyed by a hash of the phrase, language and
voice — not by who asked for it.
Microphone and speech recognition
Speaking exercises use your device's own speech recognition. On iOS this is
Apple's; on Android it is the recogniser your device provides, which on most
phones is Google's and may process the audio on Google's servers under their
privacy policy. We never receive your recorded audio — the
app only ever sees the text your device transcribed, compares it to the
expected answer, and discards it. The microphone is used only while a
speaking exercise is on screen.
Third parties
-
Google Gemini API — receives the text and photos described
above, from our server, for speech synthesis and the coaching features.
-
Apple / Google — the app stores handle downloads and any
crash reporting you have opted into at the OS level. We do not add our own.
-
Device speech recognition, as described above.
AI-generated content
Some text and all spoken audio in the app is generated by AI, and AI output
can be wrong or inappropriate. Anything generated for you can be reported from
inside the app — press and hold the item, or use Profile → Report
content — and reports reach us with the offending text so we can correct
or block it.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal
information from anyone, so there is nothing we could knowingly collect from a
child. If you believe a child has sent us a photo through the photo feature,
contact us and we will confirm it has not been retained.
Your rights
Because we hold no identifiable data, there is no account to access, export or
delete. To remove everything the app holds about you, use Profile → Delete
all data or uninstall it. For anything else, write to us.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and the new
version appears here before the change takes effect in a released build.
